No, but lots of trees around, all nicely pruned. He actually built a tree house in Peru last year- well, a tree bedroom, complete with 2 beds, porta potty and room service- 90 feet up. We heard that there was actually a wedding there! |

The lodge where he built it charges a fortune for it. It is called Inka Terra, on the Madre de Dios river out of Puerto Maldanado Peru. The owner has another lodge, also called Inka Terra, in Machu Picchu which is famous for it's orchid collection. I keep telling Bart he should work for them for free and then we can go to Macchu Picchu again, but he prefers the jungle  |

Hey all,
currently on the island of St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. I was walking around the hotel when I see three hummers pollinating some cactii. hehe. I took tons of pics but this is the best one I got. No tripod, the little hummers were too fast for me to focus on them in mid air. I have to get my camera repaired, the autofocus is not working so have to do it manually (much slower). This one is the Green-Throated Carib.

Vacation with the wife. I went today through the rainforest part of the Island. All went well till I took the road that showed on a map as a dotted line. hehe, no pavement. On a little rented Kia. I thought we were almost not gonna make it out alive. Got one picture of a flower and a dowitcher type bird, maybe sanderling or something. The rainforest overlooks the ocean. Pretty, but also pretty scary! Ahhh, glad to be back in the hotel.

Same for me. I'll shoot 2-3,000 pix over the course of a day and keep just a few. Going back to Ecuador this January - hope to have a little time for Colibris!
