Default (My camera) Can you please help??

Hi all,

I'm really hoping someone here can help me. I'm having some camera problems with my powershot canon A70 this cam is almost 4 years old now. It started with my viewfinder, I started to see lines run thur it, soon it would clear out, then I was able to take shots then load only to find these little lines appeared on the photo's.

It was only once in a while this would start and not matter what setting I chose it would sometimes be there and sometime not be there. Over the course of 10months it has gotten much worse .. I can no longer take pictures, these lines have turned into complete darkness thru the viewfinder. I thought (hoped) perhaps the pictures would turn out ok anyways .... But loading any of these dark photos remained DARK. I also added a new memory card. it didn't help either

I have changed my batteries a number of times, check the settings and everything on the menu I could think of and still black photos. One thing though, the photos I took before the complete black out on the memory card are fine.
I'm stumped and bummed -- I would so apreicate any idea's you guys might have or just to plain tell me ..... the camera is RIP!
Thanks alot everyone

Hi Lagoon,

I have had this very same issue with one of my digital Nikons. There is a sensor chip inside many cameras (Nikons at least) that sometimes goes bad or is going bad. It has to be taken in to be replaced. When mine did it, it started out as funny colored lines through the images. Then it progressed to huge waves, then all black. In california (where I am) it runs about 200 bucks and 2 weeks in the shop, dependning on how long it takes your camera company to work on it.

I'd take it to a shop and ask them what they think. That's how I found out what was wrong with mine when it happened to me

Hello!

I had a very good service with canon canada a few month ago with my Powershot G5.
Go there, they might help you :

Thanks for your replies, I apreciate them.
Thats right on with whats going on with my camera too Dj, Lines then serious waves, then total blackness.

In the back of my mind I pretty much know my camera is shot, paying that much to have it fixed it sorta crazy, few more bucks I could have the same model all over again. Really gotta think that one over!

Phalguy, thanks or the link, I went poking around and didn't see anything of my problem really, doesn't seem to be the normal imaging problem.
Well anyways all the same I will bring it into the shop tomorrow and see what they say.

Thanks again

I don't think you will be able to repair it by yourself. If professional repair service costs too much, just invest in new and better camera.
