Default Interesting penguin facts

Have you ever wondered why you never see dead penguins on the ice in Antarctica? Ever wondered where they go? Wonder no more.

Penguins are very ritualistic birds that lead extremely ordered and complex lives.

Penguins have a very strong community bond and are very committed to their families and will mate for life. They also maintain a form of compassionate contact with their offspring throughout their lives.

If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other members of the family and social circle dig a hole in the ice, using their vestigal wings and beaks. The dead bird is then rolled into the hole and buried.

The male penguins then gather in a circle around the grave and sing -

"Freeze a jolly good fellow."

That's pretty funny, but... I have wondered why you don't see dead penguins.

I love how committed they are to one another. Goes to show that we're not the only complex minded creatures in this world.

That's easily answered by the well known medical adage: "They're not dead until they're warm and dead."
