Default High Desert Gardening In Central Oregon

Hi Everyone, thought I would share with you all my yard and garden here at Crooked River Ranch in Central Oregon. I have finally gotten to work in the yard since the remodel of the house is complete. My yard and garden is what I love to care for. It took a lot of getting used to gardening here cause there are so many things that won't grow here. Beside that there are so many deer, rabbits, squirrels, sage rats, rock chucks etc.... to worry about.

Enjoy the pictures.

Sheridan

Becca I got the quail from the Jackson & Perkins Rose Catalog. I don't know if they have them this year. Check them out at Jackson&Perkins.com .

Sheridan, you have made me sooooo homesick for K. Falls. I loved that place but my wife hated it, so now she's stuck here in Michigan

Crooked River is some beautiful country and your yard reflects the beauty of the area very well. Nice job.

Posting a view from my front porch of the canyon walls around my place. I am about 250 ft from the Deschutes river. The other photo's are more of my yard/garden.
We are getting more rain this year then ever......Bend had heavy hale yesterday with thunder and lightning in some places the hale was 2ft deep. Yikes!!!! Here at CRR we didn't get any of that thank God.

Ross do you recognize the last photo?????
Sorry a couple are still blurry....

Enjoy everyone.

I've been to the Crater Lake area a few times. The scenery is dramatic, and quite varied. Some of the viewpoints around the lake have panoramic vistas that stretch for miles in every direction. The lake itself is so blue it is hard to imagine or describe, it must be seen.
The Rogue and Deschutes rivers are rafting and fishing paradises. The highways that follow the rivers pass through some interesting areas, agricultural and historic areas to , not to mention that it looks like a great place to live. Deer and rabbits can be a problem in the garden.

Phantom Ship, I believe it's called. Smallest of the two islands. Dottie and I learned to cross-country ski along the rim drive many years ago. Sort of dangerous skiing on 30+ feet of powder if you fall (which I did!) I've spent many a day tripping the folks and family around the park. Great reminder photos, Sheridan - thanks for the memories.

In K.Falls we had a view out of the kitchen window of Mount Shasta in Northern California. The views outside were of local trees, mostly.

Nice yard and, once again, you've stayed true to the views and the atmosphere of the high desert country.
