I just remembered that there was a study years ago along the lines of this thread. It seems that punk rock etc was so depressing for the orchids that they refused to grow! But flourished with the soft classicals!! It all a matter of how it vibrates!!!

Music for me is an after thought, something for drive time. I did get a small Walkman to have something to listen to while I walk at lunch.
I found the True Oldies franchise (81.0 AM) in Central Florida and it's the best oldies station ever. They cluster their commercials in the :35 minutes section for maybe 5 minutes, so it's all oldies. I listen to it now when I am outside with my orchids and I sing and sometimes shake a tailfeather! Not sure what that does to the 'chids!

I have a collection of 400+ music CDs so I'd say I'm a music lover...and if you're a true music lover, you love it all I go through phases, so I could be listening to just about anything, depending on what mood I'm in when I wake up.
A constant favorite...and I'll admit, my favorite to have on when I'm tending to the 'chids are the great American classics (original versions and remakes by Michael Buble and Rod Stewart and Chris Botti).
I LOVE Chris Botti...the man is magic!!!

Yeah, but I'll bet "oldies" for you are, what, 80's? For me it's Strawberry Alarmclock, or Canned Heat, or Cream, or Coven, or Derick and the Dominos. Get it? Oldies Music - Number One Songs

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

In case folks don't know it, there is a "new" device that will take their old cassette tapes and help you convert them into MP3's (you know, the new-fangled things!) There used to be a day when I had to deal with reel-to-reel. But not recently. Ads Instant Music W/ Nero Software, RDX150, ADS at Cyberguys.com
