I think the first is a wild violet.... they appear more blue in the picture but are a deep violet color. The last two are Trillium grandiflorum. Why one has the green is anyone's guess; they should look like the second pic.

Yep, that first one is definitely a violet. I love when my own native violets bloom. Ours are mostly yellow, and they creep like strawberries, so there's golden carpets for a few weeks here in the spring! I just love them! I wish a few more western natives were the color of yours though.

I love Trilliums too! Unfortunately so do the deer.

That one with the green streaks is really cool. I know they should be all white, but maybe you've found a variant that can be propagated. Keep an eye on the area and see if you can find more like that in the following years. Maybe you could introduce it as the next big thing!

Evan, I've been told this green indicates a potential virus in the plant!

Doc, thanks so much for posting these glorious pictures. I haven't seen either of these since I was a kid and that was a looong time ago!

I love the violets too! They are one of my favorite spring flowers since they are one of the very first to bloom. At my country house they grow wild everywhere. There are white one, white with purple streaks, light purple and dark purple. The yard looked gorgeous. But they finished blooming about a month ago. Now the yard is filled with yellow and orange blooming cowslip.
