I grow everything I can get my hands on! 
Herbs, veggies, natives (especially wildflowers), irises, tulips, and whatever shows up on my doorstep - I have a whole garden out front reserved for gift plants and "I can't do anything with this, do you want it?" plants.
Indoors, I have too many houseplants to list (47, at last count, I think), including a small test-terrarium (wanted to see how I would do at keeping one before I invested in a large one). I'm running out of places to keep them all, actually, and am refurbishing an old shelf so that I can keep plants on it by the winows, instead of the forest of small tables with plants on them that I have now. |

Well I like all types of plants and keep a wide variety, including Aloes, Succulents, Fuscias, Daylillies, Allocasia, various Ferns, Bromiliads, Tillandsia, and others, but my all time favourite...non Orchid is the Clivia, I have quite a number of them and a large variety of colours as well as variegateds. I have all 6 species including seedlings of the recently dicovered Clivia mirabilis.

WOW! Those are gorgeous. I have two Clivias under my care. They have been surviving under my thumb for more than a year now, and no blooms. Any hints, tips, tricks???? Thanks.

Is the Clivia website from Port Elizabeth yours? How do you grow them from seeds?

They are pretty easy to grow (and NO, it is not because they are indiginous), just don't overwater them, keep them out of bright sunlight. And like Cymbidiums, they need to have a drop in temperature in order to bloom.
The potting mix must allow water to drain away freely

So my Alocasia X amazonica decided to bloom for me. I love these flowers even if they aren't that showy.
Not sure if this bloom will unwrap its self any further, hope it does. But meanwhile, here you go:

For anyone interested in Frangipani/Plumeria try this website if you haven't already. Prices are Australian Dollars and there are about 10 pages of different colour varieties in there........how cool are some of these???
