Default Another GH mate in flower

My Brug. Charles Grimaldi is loving the chilly August that we are having here in Michigan...I hope that it keeps the blooms coming!

Adam, that's so pretty!

Somehow the words "chilly" and "August" don't seem to go together

Beautiful! My first flower just opened last night. I've been waiting for that smell!

It's been in the 40s here at night! I'm luvin it! I now have Dracs in spike and that seldom happens till the basement and tank cool down to low 60s. With basement windows open at night, I can achieve low 60s by morning, climbing to mid 70s by afternoon. This is like a really long bloom season for me and Adam.

Nice plant Adam. I remember seeing that one earlier.

Default Bruggsmansia in Panama

Adam,

Beautiful plant! Brug. has always been a favorite of mine, but never managed to get them going successfully.

A couple of years ago we were in Panama, in the hcentral mountains, near the Costa Rica border, in a village called Guadalupe. Well the whole town was like a greenhouse, blooming plants of every kind all over the place, but what I had never seen before were Brug.'s the size of small trees everywhere. Whites, Yellows, Pinks. WOW! There were dozens of them around town.

The first picture is just one of a street in the village, the second is one I took shooting up into Brug. "tree". I zoomed it a bit . . . those blossoms were about 10 feet above my head.

We are going back again next spring, so I'll see them again, and try to get some better pictures.

Also in Guadalupe is a fantastic orchid "venue". Andres Maduro's Finca Dracula. Hundreds of varieties of cool-growing orchids, mostly indigenous to Panama (but that's another story).

Hope you enjoy this.

Ed

So thats what these are called! They are fairly common where I live and smell great at night! Very cool looking trees.

There are many Brugs planted all over in Lima, Peru as well...when I was there I had to resist the call to gather cuttings and take them home (there were also tons of plumeria that were further temptations...)
