Default computer problems

Hi All, I'm using my brother's computer right now as mine went to computer heaven. I'm not sure when I will be back on steady, but will check in when I can. Just wanted you all to know in case someone replies to one of my threads and I don't reply immediately. It won't be because I didn't want to.

I can feel your pain. I've been through lots of computers since my Apple IIe days and my service as computer specialist and servicer for my employer. If you want any advice, let me know. I am anti-Dell, so don't ask about them (I serviced Dell for several years just before retirement.) I think I can save you some money, but I would discuss this via PM.

Hey Swamper and Ross....I'm back! I have an awesome computer guru that has basically got me back online with minimal cost. And!!!!!! He managed to save what I had in my harddrive. Whew! (I was not faithful at backing up stuff).
We had lost the power during the day while I was gone for a hike and when the power came back on late that evening, something made a funny noise in my computer and then I started to smell burning wires, or something like that, in my harddrive. Not sure what caused it, but it certainly was scary. I had a surge protector too.
Anyway....I'm back and thanks for the offer, Ross. I will keep that bit of knowledge in mind for if and when this happens again.

Welcome back kiki, welcome back. Glad you got everything saved. Scary smelling smoke and seeing it come out of your pc LOL. You got lucky.
