In Austria and Germany there is a tradition of cutting some branches from a cherry tree and bringing them inside on December 4th (Saint Barbara's Day). With luck they will bloom on Christmas. I found a wild cherry and gave it a try but it ended up flowering a couple of days late.

Anyhow, here are my blooming Barbara branches.
