My side effect after both was severe fatigue. I could hardly keep my eyes open. After a couple weeks it subsided.

May seem like a silly question, but that's never stopped me before... If you already had Covid, why take the shot(s)?

What clawhammer said, plus unknown how long antibodies last. Extra precaution for a loved one as well.

Still anecdotal... data are just starting to be collected systematically, but there have been reports by some who have had "long COVID" (months of being debilitated even after testing negative) that their symptoms have improved greatly after receiving the vaccine. If that effect is confirmed, it may also be evidence that the virus can hang around even if levels drop below what can be detected as an active infection - and that the vaccines work against that residual level. (Nearest analog that I can think of is herpes zoster - causes chickenpox, and decades later re-emerges as shingles) COVID hasn't been around long enough to know its long-term trajectory...There IS evidence that the vaccines give a significant boost to immunity in those who have been infected, it is possible that for those who have had it that one shot works well enough that the second may not be necessary, but data are still being collected. Certainly not enough evidence to change protocols yet.

Gracias guys and gals. I asked because I have a friend whose family had Covid, and their PCPs told them the vaccine wasn’t necessary. Yet another of my silly questions that wasn’t really silly.

Totally not a silly question! (In fact, very few questions are silly...) There's a PCP that needs to ask a few questions, and listen to the answers!

In this day and age of accepted lying and calculated misinformation, no one should feel bad for being confused

I no longer know who to trust or what to believe. I had a long talk with my PCP and he, an individual I trust, explained his understanding and that helped me with mine.

It is SO hard to know what to know now. Good, open, honest, judgment free dialogue are also great

Wholeheartedly agreed, buddy. I'm still trying to sort this red hot mess out for what it means for me, as well. Sort of feels like I'm a monk living in a cave high in the Himalaya. Which is okay, other than my need to visit hardware stores and lumberyards. I can live with someone else picking out my avocadoes (just barely). But my lumber or the right screws? Not so much.

Wife got her 2nd Moderna on Tuesday. Woke up Wednesday morning feeling just a little achy and tired. 3 naps vs. her usual 2 and she was as good as new. LOL

I didn't even have a sore shoulder after #1 and go for 2nd a week from today so fingers crossed I don't have any serious aftereffects.
