Cool "Tilly wall!!...mounts are for orchids!"

i used to just enjoy "airplants" as something cool id see on the trees around town and then i learned a bit more about them and i realized they are quite awesome and (for yet another reason) i am super blessed to live in (flora) paradise (the fauna [macro especially] leaves a great deal to be desired) as they are all over and i find cool and add ones on the floor in parking lots and on bike rides around the neighborhood

Inspired by kg5 and his house of awesome i got with my botanist buddy and he got me with a FWC (our DNR) and he helped me ID all but maybe 5 of these.

I made a design for a cool "rough frame" and then adapted it as i went....i have already made about 12 adjustments as i a m winging it on a lot of things so please jump in with any mistakes i have made

thanks!

this is in the herb garden

Oooooo! Cruelty to the WaterWitchin! Yes, I'm incorrigible. But at least I got the first word in!

so i had the light and the water and the dirt/leca setup wrong...LOL

at least i was in the right place hahaha

Herbs and seeds by J Solo, on Flickr

i had initially under estimated the light and over estimated the flow and coverage of the drip lines.

i had also tried to use these containers with plugs and the inner basket filled with LECA to promote a hydro res of sorts for the roots to go into....leca instantly clogged the drainage holes...many herbs drowned and many a sad song was sung....

presto change and the brighter herbs are up top - i added a few tomatoes for them to give a little more shade to the herbs and the rest are growing back in well..sweet basil, purple basil, Italian and curly parsley, culantro, assorted chives and scallions, sage, chocolate mint and sweet mint, and i think the thyme was toasted but it might have come back.

i ran these drip lines of the main and i am really running them as DRIP lines now...even on the top....basically each of the planters gets a line and 15 minutes of drip at 545 in the AM

here is the tilly wall out here with GIANT basil to keep the herb garden included lol
