Is this the future of Orchidboard?

It's early Saturday morning, well early for some. I had just finished reading some of the threads to which I had some input. I logged onto the main Orchidboard page to find some new and interesting ORCHID related threads...after all that is what, I believe, most of us are here for, isn't it???? Isn't the intended use of this Board about the "chids"? I come to this Board because of the people, their pictures, their trials and tribulations, to read about the mistakes we all make and how others offer such wonderful, intelligent, insightful and heart-warming compassion towards one another. I was terribly disappointed this morning to find several "FS" items totally unrelated to orchids. I understand this is a public forum and as such is open to anyone for just about anything within certain moral limits. It is my belief that these kinds of items belong on Craig's List or some other sales arena (eBay, etc); the sale of orichids and associated items on this Board is one thing but watches, stereos, CD players, etc belong somewhere else. Having said all of this, I'm sure tempers may rise and that's fine. Expression leads to understanding. This board is for the advancement of our ORCHID interests and knowledge and not for the sale of household items. Just my thoughts and opinions...doesn't make them right or wrong just makes for some healthy discussion.

I agree with you, but I think that this is all just spam, not OB members posting this. People are spamming us by creating a profile, putting up their ads, then we never hear from them again. There were others yesterday or thursday, but our great mods took care of them quickly! I think some one will be around to take down those ads, but it's the 4th of July weekend, so Sue and Dorothy are out enjoying a BBQ some where, with their orchids of course!!

Anything non related to orchid sales etc in my mind is SPAM! Unless, it's in the off topic area, where we can simply chit chat about other things.
Other then that, I simply report all the other posts, as I did a few minutes ago

Doc, this has happened like three times total since I've been here. Don't fret. I posted infractions on the three posts (there may be more I haven't seen yet. This will ban that user totally and permanently. I'm sure the mods will see these and take care of it.

Just finished giving 13 infractions. Under his name it now says banned.

Sorry I couldn't get to it sooner. As moderator, I will clean the Board of spam and other such non-sense but I just got in and was in the emergency room most of last night. My niece and her boyfriend were sideswiped by a pickup. Her car was totaled. Thank God they sustained only minor injuries.
Now that I am back, a little out of it though, I'll get to cleaning up the mess
