The folks here at OB are among the finest I've ever spoken to. I was never really involved in any other board except Orchidboard. I did check out one or two others to see what they were like...and immediately decided that I would never be a part of that!
My reaction comes from a belief that people should just be nice to each other...that's it!
Life is just too short to spend it treating people badly.

We have to understand that the written word carries no infection so words should be chosen carefully...not everybody will take what you write in the spirit it was written

As for the orchid-grower in me...how can anybody learn if they don't ask questions?
All the wonderful folks here who have years and years of experience and are generous enough to share that with the rest of us learned what they know because they asked questions...and I'm sure they still do!

I grow orchids because I enjoy them so much...and I am a part of Orchidboard because I appreciate the commaraderie.

I am truly grateful to have made so many friends around the world...

I agree with everything said. I frequent some other places and in one I was insulted for not knowing the correct way to write species names I have read so many insults and fights on other places.
I consider the OB my orchid home. THIS IS THE BEST PLACE TO BE. The members are all awesome and extremely kind. I LOVE IT HERE!!!

That is exactly what brought me here to the OB. A great community in which remembering where they/we came from prior to growing, one chid experience at a time. No other board is like the OB, call us commoner orchid growers if one likes but there is no place like home.

Personally I belong and participate in coversations on more than one board. I have never been bashed at the other place and will say have made a few friends in the process. I have read some "upsetting" things people have said to one another though. I say if I can learn great if not well.... that would be sad! Thank all of you guys for the help and support given to me.-Martin

all the people on this board have been nothing but a possitive experience.
i have learned so much; just by reading the new posts every day. ob has become my constant companion.
and my orchids have all benefitted from it. haven,t killed a single one since joining ob. and thats saying a lot.

Wow...amazing to read these posts. I started OB specifically because I was bashed on another forum and I didn't appreciate the rudeness, lack of positive feedback and unfriendly atmosphere that was created for me right from the beginning.

From day 1 we were careful to weed out the over inflated egos and troublemakers to make sure that OB is not only the best community that it can be, but also the friendliest.

Big thanks to the moderators who share the same ideas. The amazing thing is that there is practically zero conflict moderation to do on this board, simply because there practically is not bickering.

Don't confuse the lack of bickering with the lack of opinions being expressed. Everyone on OB just knows what the limits are and we all respect each other's opinions whether we agree or disagree.
