This species grow terrestrially in Taiwan at elevations of 1000 meters. They usually appear in the damp, cool forests with good air movement. They like cool weather and hence it is not easy to grow them in lowlands here.
Kim, it is really joyful to see them grow happily in the wild.
Taiwan is home of many calanthes, but most of them, however, do not grow well in man-made conditions.
But it's lucky for us to find them while going mountain climbing, which is the best way to approach them.
