Disa uniflora-anyone else had this happen?
My first Disa uniflora flower of the season opened today and this is what it decided to throw up!!! Not only does the lateral sepal look like the dorsal sepal but the labellum looks like the other petals (anti-pelorism? ) It's normally compact in habit but the spike is very short even for this plant so maybe it lost the plot trying to flower quickly.
Disa uniflora "Helen"

It does look a bit confused..........I would guess that the next flower will repair the problem. Sometimes orchids will bloom mutated flowers, who knows why? Perhaps culture, genetics or both.

It hasn't happened before so I'm not expecting the rest of the flowers to follow suit. At least I hope it doesn't because it's as ugly as sin.

It's very confusing to look at, but I would not call it ugly as it has some nice colors. What's it supposed to look like anyway?

Like this, Tindo - http://worchard.home.comcast.net/images/UNI74pt1.JPG
or this - http://www.easyorchids.co.uk/shop/fi...er/t_16839.jpg
Here it is on Jay's - IOSPE PHOTOS
Andrew - your disa is just a little ... um ... lopsided
perhaps psycho-peloric ( I just made that up )

Oh, the other one is much prettier. Sorry for your mutation.

Well, hmmm. . .kind of a bad petal day it's having, eh? Excellent color though.
Perhaps it will bloom more attractively next time around!

Would love to grow Disas but from what I've read and folks I've talked to, they can be rather tempermental.
I'll just enjoy yours.
