Default Macodes petola seedling in bloom.

My Macodes petola seedling has been in flower for almost a month now. These photos I already uploaded a little while ago:

This one I just took shows the other side of one of the blooms:

Hi Damian

Are you sure of the identification of the plant?

it seems different from what I have seen, darker and with different flowers.

I can't help, don't know much about it...

But it surely is beatiful. i love those flowers

edit: I was looking at the tag, doesn't it says Anoectochilus?

Thanks Nope, it was definitely bought as a Macodes petola and that's what the tag says but IOSPES has a much different looking flower and foilage:

Yes, the pattern of the leaves and the flower with a lip so fringed seems to say that. But jewel orchids are not my area, although I like them very much.

What I usually see is Anoectochilus formosanum. It seems like yours, but as it is you who have the plant, you have to examine it more deeply

Perhaps someone with more knowledge can help more.

edit: have you seen My latest haul of Jewells

The leaves look too dark to be Macodes petola. Congrats on the blooms though.

More importantly, the flower is wrong for Macodes petola...

I second this identification.

But, this just means you'll be able to buy a Macodes and increase your jewel collection.
Very cool flower by the way. Much more interesting that a Macodes flower.

I've had the Anoectochilus formosanum and yours looks almost identical.

I don't think you have a Macodes there, different growth and flowers to me.

Here is a picture of my bloom..........I am guessing they are pollinated by some type of fly.
