hello to all,
I grow it in a little plastic clear pot with bottom always in water (as Disa) compost is blonde peat, perlite and sphagnum. 300 pm fertilizer, 50 % for the shade and temperate climat (the plant is in my kitchen) It's not difficult to grow but the hardest time is during the rest. the plant die. Just a big bulb in the soil. it's difficult to know if it need water or not... the soil should not to be completly dry but not too humid too.... When in rest the plant need temperate climat not cold. after that you had to cross your fingers to see the new shoot in spring !!! :-)
I don' tknow were you can find this plant in US... sorry but in Europe we find it in Germany and France very easily.

Marc, That is one fantastic plant! I must have one!! I saw it for sale, but was hesitant as I have also heard that it is not the easiest to grow...
With such spectacular flowers, I think I will take a chance!

Dorothy, Have you tried looking at any specialty bulb places? There is one here that has a nice range of Habenaria. (They will ship dormant bulbs to the US, if you order over £100, but maybe you can find somewhere closer to home that has them...)

Amazing! I recently got one from a North American vendor (J&L orchids -their website seems to be missing though) and I think it's growing new leaves at a decent rate although no signs of a spike yet. I find that I get blotches of brown on my leaves though - do you think this is a light issue, or something else? (I have relatively good air movement) Did you see this on your plant?
