Red face Habenaria radiata

I received some Habenaria radiata corms from Dutch Bulbs today. I have tried on several occasions to grow these without any success. I recently read on another site about growing them in sphagnum moss. I have some New Zealand moss but it doesn't seem dense enough to really do any good. So I mixed in some good potting soil to give it a little more substance. Does anyone have any experience with these? I would really appreciate any information you may have. There seems to not be much information around.

Thanks,
Keith

Thanks, Dorothy, that thread has a lot of information. I tried searching for that earlier, but didn't find it. Thanks, again. I hope things go well. I will keep you all posted as to the progress.

Thanks Shakkai! It sounds like I did the right thing with them. They arrived looking like small sprouted peanuts. Have you grown them before?

Question

Hi I bought these from Thompson and Morgan and shared the six of them with a friend. She kept hers in the house and all three have sprouted, mine have had to make do with my greenhouse and so far I have one.

I followed the instructions about how to make your own compost and found it difficult to get charcoal, ended up using pet breath freshener stuff, so finely divided that a lot washes through when they are watered. I am suffering from some algal growth on the perlite part of the mix, any suggestions on what to do?

Happy growing
