Default Habenaria lindleyana

(continuing thread from deflasking Habenaria medusa cross )

All the progeny are lindleyana and I am in the process of harvesting the bulbs - when dry and cleaned of foliage and media, they are 'sphagged and bagged'

Photos of the newly harvested bulbs

What temperature do you keep the bulbs at during dormancy?

In the past its been at room temperature which is set for a minimum of 69f.
However, because I have so many bulbs to experiment with this year, I'm going to store some in the basement ( min and max around 63f ). The point to this is to try and get them to all start growing at the same time in Spring. Already I have a substantial time lag between currently dormant and even some starting to bloom. I'll return the basement stored bulbs to room temps around end March 2017.

Hi. I have a couple of Habernarias that I'm trying to cultivate for the first time. When you bag your bulbs, are they bagged in sphagnum that is moIst? Can you post some photos of your bagged bulbs? Thanks for your post.

They were bagged in dry moss. I ended up keeping all at a min of 69f. I am going to pot up 4 in chobani yoghurt containers and will post photos. I just potted up my radiata tubers which are already sprouting.

1 of the 4 has a tiny green shoot. The others that are bagged show no sign of waking up. My medusa however are sprouting and I am going to pot them up too.

Photo- growth barely visible. I'm going to start watering 1x per week. My main concern now is not to rot the bulb - I've done it before!

So another 8 are waking up ( 7 were in Ziploc bag ). I'll pot them. The one in the photo doesn't appear to have grown at all, I hope it's ok.
