Pleione saxicola Question Male
Default Pleione saxicola Question

Looking for some knowledge from anyone familiar with fall blooming Pleiones. I have a dormant tuber of P. saxicola currently in my cold room (current daytime low 60s, nights low 50s, was colder over the winter but never froze), and have a question concerning when I should start watering. Do I wait for signs of growth, or now that temps have warmed should I start normal watering? Thanks!

Here is my favorite site for Pleiones. Hopefully, this will give you the information. If it doesn't, you could try contacting the site owner or the vendor who sold you the Pleione for information. I only grow a few spring blooming ones so I can't really help you.
Here is the site:

Has it started growing yet.

I usually wait for them to start growing (in my cool greenhouse) and then pot them up. They should be growing by now, mine have flowered and the leaves are now getting really big.

I know this is a bit of an old topic, but I've read that this species in particular is in active root growth throughout the winter and should be kept moist and in media. But I don't grow this species so I don't have first hand knowledge. There are a couple very good pleione facebook groups that are very knowledgeable about particular species (Pleione Cultivation, Sales and Trading) (Pleione Garden)
