Hi everyone
So, I wanted this one really really for a long time, but everyone said "cool growing" and won't do great in Miami. I did search, read blogs, posts, found someone in NY growing and blooming perfectly in "warm" conditions, and than someone even here in Miami, so I got mine. Division went to inside vivarium, and the main plant outside at the balcony. Both are with buds now, and I am very happy!

I stayed away from that plant because I know I can't maintain cool conditions during the summer. But if it grows so nicely outdoors in FL I need to give it a try!

Subrosa, I am known for challenging cold or intermediate growers here in Florida. Some did not work so well, but many proved that they can bloom even here for me! Sometimes there is great chance, that the plant that is grown mostly cool/cold can adapt to our temps. I am not saying that this one will love our summer, that means the one outside, however I do know now one grower here in Miami, who has this plant pretty big, growing outside year round, in the shade, and his is blooming every single winter! S, I do believe, if kept in shade, I will be able to rebloom it next year:-)

I find the most important thing with Mediocalcar is water. They like it pretty much constantly moist. I haven't noticed mine bothered too much by temperature... sure the odd summer when we get into the 40C range the leaf tips get a bit burned if left in the sun but they overcome it within a couple of months.

Agreed Dan, I keep it constant moist and in the shade, so our strong sun won't burn it, and it seems to work just fine:-)
