Default Calanthe rubens still in bloom

This plant started blooming around Christmas time and is still pushing out flowers. It's amazing just how easy the deciduous Calanthes are to grow and bloom, they seem to take care of themselves.

Absolutely beautiful!! It's been blooming for quite a while then, sounds like a great plant. Is it a large plant? I'm not too familiar with the genus but it sounds like something perfect for me!

The psuedo bulbs are not very large but the leafs are like those of Phaius and can get big and prone to fungus. Good thing is you can cut them off because they go deciduous. You can see in the new picture how big the bulbs are, they are in a 6" pot and are about 4-5" tall and maybe 2 1/2" wide.

I ha no idea that these were deciduous! Convenient for keeping indoors for the winter though, if it has no leaves.
