Smile Habenaria medusa

Saw the most amazing plant at our orchid show this weekend. It is a Habenaria Medusa. Unfortunately the plant has already been sold and who knows when a division or clone will be availabe. I'm looking for a source to purchase one of these plants. If any member knows who might have these wonderful plants for sale please let me know. Thanks

Yes I was at the Largo show I am a member of the Florida West Coast Orchid Society. It is my understanfing that the Habenaria sold for over 2K. The plant is not suppose to be difficult to grow and is terrestrial

Oh, I wish we had known...we could've had an OB meet!

I was very impressed with the show...well done

I heard the Habenaria went for $1800 but would've been more if it had received 88 points rather than 86

It was stunning but there's no way I'd ever spend that on a plant. I know that growers and brreeders have different criteria than I do but still...

Wow, I would never spend that much on any plant either.

A pic of one of these was submitted to the calendar compertition wasn't it? I've just searched OB and Gena has one I think, see thread below. Maybe he can suggest where to get one.

Rosie, I’m not sure about vendors in US who can offer Habenaria medusa, but in Europe it is not so hard to find one. I bought mine from Popow-Orchideen in Germany. Popow-Orchid s - There are few more nurseries in Germany and in UK where these plants are available. Unfortunately, I do not know if they ship to US, but I’m certain that this information is on their websites.

unfortunately, most european vendors will ship to the EU only. the ones that will ship to the US have minimum purchase requirements, and the required certificates are usually much more expensive than the plants.

The price for that plant was ego not value.

They are not common but I know some vendors that will have them for sale later in 2010.

For $2000 I have a friend that will probably sell his personal plant which is exceptional.
