My Phaius bernaysii is just flowering now. i have much anticipated seeing the flowers and i was not disappointed. It is the rarist of the Phaius (possibly extinct in the wild). Here are some pics of the flower of this amazing plant.

It is quite unknown outside of Australia and even in Australia it is hard to get and rare. This one appears to be a non-selfing individual which is not common either. Most plants are naturally self pollinating just like Phaius australis. Non-selfing plants are rare. It is a very similar plant to Phaius australis.

I think there is some conjecture about whether it is a species or a variety of australis. Either way you have a very well grown specimen there

yeah currently it is a separate species as far as i know. The flower shape and plant is like australis. The major different is the colour of the flower. The fact that it doesn't seem be hybridised with australis where it grows wild is also interesting because where it grew naturally australis also grew but they still managed to breed true to type and didn't hybridise as far as i know. Well i have not heard of any natural hybrids.
