I'm going to have to get a piece of this, I really like the leaf coloration.

I stopped in at an orchid nursery on the way home from work today and picked up a couple of Anoectochilus roxburghii seedlings that caught my eye. I didn't notice at the time but one is a standard and the other a variegated form. Lucky me!

great work, i never see many jewels around. Only Ludisia discolor. I have got the normal and so called variegated (yellow line down the centre) in the same flask. Also i have seen "variegated" change to normal and normal to variegated at times. I don't think it is true variegation but rather just variation in leaf colour.

Hmmm... not sure. I've heard that variegated forms of certain bushes used for hedges can put out normally coloured leaves. They say to trim these bits off or the plant will stop producing variegated growth. Maybe it's a similar thing..?

similar maybe but its not really variegation. Just colour variation. Some plants seem to be able to switch from one to the other and back again while some stay either normal or with the yellow line down the centre of the leaf. Just from my observations. I should be able to get a better understanding as my plants grow and mature more.

Great thread, I love jewels! Have to add Macodus sanderiana to the wishlist now . So cool the deflasking went well, it seems like the seedlings grow quite fast!

yeah they do grow faster than expected. They are doing well. Quite large now and i noticed one has a flower spike emerging. They tried to flower when they were just seedlings but i removed the flowers stems to give them more energy for growth.
