Ah... agreed. Actually, I think a blue Phal is sort of an abomination. Whether the easy way with dye or the hard way with gene editing. It's still weird.

Maybe Roberta will do some selfings and crosses and send the seed to Meyers Conservatory or another lab so that there can be many more of these available in the US.

Probably won't happen... But maybe someone else will. There are a few of these around in the hands of people a lot more knowledgeable than I am, and younger.

I think I will stick to my forget-me-nots and myrtle. Maybe add a Delphinium.

You might contact Kujawa Orchids, he posted photos of some a few months ago.

He sometimes propagates things and sells on eBay. Not often though.

I will be putting in an order from Dr. Beyrle soon. Anyone want in? I got my import permits back.

Serious inquiries please. Once you commit, please follow through. Small orders ok, you don't need to buy a boatload.

CITES, phyto, and shipping costs from Germany to the US will be split as evenly as possible amongst people in the group order. Payment for shipping from my home to your home is additional. Free local pick up if you're near the San Gabriel Valley area in Southern California.

PM me if interested.

In the near future, I may be offering a few seed grown Thelymitra spp. Quantities and species list depend on what I get from the lab.

Btw, Caledonia, Thelymitras, and other related Australian terrestrials, to my knowledge, are very unique compared to other tuberous plants. I understand the recommendation to find analogous plants to gain experience with before attempting Australian terrestrial orchids, but IMHO, attempting to grow South African bulbs (excluding terrestrial orchids) are not similar enough of an experience.

Many Caladenia or Thelymitras either have extremely reduced root systems (1 or 2 roots) or practically no true roots at all. If the tuberoid is rotted out and there were no new tuberoids produced, that's it for that individual.

For example, the Caladenia picta I've grown do not have true roots at all. They keep producing new tuberoids instead.
