Vanilla orchid - advises to grow Male
Default Vanilla orchid - advises to grow

Hi y'all,
I bought a couple of vanilla orchids, Planifolia Bean to be precise. I'm planning to keep them on the patio with the bananas and elephant ears. Does anyone has some good advise for me? I was looking for a decorative stem with coco fiber or something that helps the orchid climb quickly.
I have 4 plants coming in and was planning to put 2 and 2 in 4 gallon buckets with conventional mulch since I learned the plants don't really go in the ground anyway. Was just planning to use the mulch to anker the stem.
Thanks in advance

These are fairly hardy plants. Once they go, they really go. Just give them medium light, and they'll take off. Mine are just growing in plain scoria. But they can grow in pretty much anything I think. But the usual rules apply ----- given them nice growing temperatures, some gentle air movement, airy-media for the roots and don't have the roots too wet or waterlogged for long periods of time. And occasional liquid fertiliser ----- occasional only.

And give them a trellis or something to climb up.
