Not an orchid, but need help with white tacca...

I have this white tacca, all of the leaves have died but the roots and bulb seem to be in good shape..... Plus this little growth popped off while I was inspecting everything... Suggestions on what I should do?

It seems a bit early for the leaves to have all died off.
I have a very young plant and mine is still making leaves right now. ?? How are you growing it? Light, water, temps, etc? Could be you had one of the parameters a bit off so it dropped it's leaves early. These plants can be a bit fussy about their conditions.

The rhizome looks good...it's still firm, right? If so, you want to go ahead and pot it back up...you can pot up the baby w/the big piece or in it's own little pot. Since it does not have leaves I would water very sparingly...just keeping it barely moist and keeping it as warm as you can. Too wet (and/or too cold) and you'll rot the rhizome. No fert until you see leaves...whether that's now or in a few months. If you keep it warm enough...60+ degrees, it should sprout new leaves before too long. Or, it might just sit there for awhile and do nothing.

Just remember...go very sparingly on the water right now...barely moist and as warm as you can keep it.

Yeah, this plant has been a rollercoaster ride since I got it! I think I over watered it and that's why it dropped its last leaf. Light- it's in a shaded south window so not a ton of natural light but I supplement with a red and blue light, it's actually surrounded by a bunch of paphs and phrags that are loving life right now.... I don't have a/c so the house rarely goes below 68 and humidity shouldn't be an issue as I live in a high humidity area and with all the other plants I have around it stays pretty constant.... Here's what I did, I put it in a smaller pot, that way if I do over water it again it'll dry out quicker... Also I used cactus and palm soil instead... Thought maybe it wouldn't soak as much since I water from the bottom and may dry more quickly.... I'll keep an eye on it, not giving up yet!

Yep, these guys can be a bit tricky and IMO, it's that watering aspect that is the Goldilocks factor. Not too much and not too little...it's a balancing act and one that seems to be greater for this one than many other plants I've grown over the years.

I think the cactus/succulent soil will work well for it in your higher humidity conditions. And it sounds like you have the perfect lighting. The rhizome looks good so i'm betting it bounces back nicely for you.
