Sophronitis cernua - my first mounted mini
I am happy to announce the arrival of my new Sophronitis cernua ..
It won the auction from tomfoolery29 on eBay at a very reasonable price.
It's my first mounted mini and joins the ranks amongst my other tiny orchids - Laelia reginae and Aerangis luteo -alba - My mini collection is growing .. slowly but it's growing
I must wait patiently for it to bloom now ..

How cute, Dorothy! Nice looking plant, congrats on the auction win!
Those minis sure do grow on you.... they seem to multiply like tribbles here.
I can't wait to see the flowers you get!

Welcome to the wacky, wonderful world of tribles ... oops, minis. Yes they sure do multiply, especially when that is the only size 'chids one buys You'll love this little 'chid because the red blossoms are so intense. Mine bloomed around Thanksgiving last year, but notta so far this year (but it did double the amount of new growths.) REALLY high light for this 'chid, though. Seems to take full sun well so maybe I'm not giving it enough bright light?

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

Not quite sure its the same for cernua, but with the coccinea I have, I kept increasing the light until I saw a purple streak down the midrib of the leaf. Then I knew it was getting enough light.

No blooms yet.... I just got this one back at the beginning of August. It is currently growing two new bulbs - so I have high hopes for next year!!
I wish mine were mounted like your's - that looks really good. I guess I'd better get that done soon, if I'm going to do it this year while the roots are still in active growth.
The photo of your plant has inspired me!!

OK, I have that, plus purple leaf margins. So I'll just wait.
