Default My First Orchid on a Stick

I decided to take the plunge this summer, and bought my first mini. I got this Haraella odorata from Andy's in July. (I hope they are OK, I haven't seen an update lately.) I guess it likes its new home. There are two more spikes on the other side, and pretty good new root growth. The only thing is, it has been open for four days now, and I cann't detect any 'odorata'. I am definitely going to try a few more!

Awesome! It's always exciting to see the first blooms!
Whatever you are doing, it seems to like it!

That is so pretty! I love it and want one! How do you grow it? In a terrarium? Great job!

I have 5 and haven't detected a scent from any of them, so welcome to the crowd!

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

I've never seen or heard of these before but I definitely want one now. It's stunning!

I'm getting 2 more shelving units today...I've completely run out of room for the orchid I just ordered, the one I have to get for the quickie orchid project here and now, for the one just like this one you've posted. I'm on a search now once again....

Enjoy and happy growing to you.

Mine is definitely odiferous. Its currently in bloom and I keep it in a small terrarium. When I open the terrarium in the mid afternoon the accumulated smell comes out of the tank. It smells like sweet lemon/fish. All in all, a good smell.
This was also my first Miniature and I have been hooked since! Mine are also from Andy's.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Sarah, mine is a very lo tech setup. I have plants in every window I have. No lights, just sunshine. I stuck a wire stake in one of my Phal pots, and just hung the thing from it.
