Default Sophronitis cernua

I got this plant last spring and this is the very first blooming for this one, so I expect many more buds in the future as the plant matures! Originally there were 2 buds, but one blasted last week. A second growth is nearly mature, and if it does like the first growth, it will spike within a few weeks of completing its growth.
I love the color, it's so bright! In reality the red is not so pure, there a slight orange tinge to it.

Very nice, Camille

how are you growing this one? I seem to have a problem with mine...it just sits there doing nothing although it's still alive

Sue- When I got it in the Netherlands it had full sun all morning, which gave some purple coloring and 2 growths started. Then during the entire summer in France it was practically in full south sun all day, and the edge and underside of the leaves were purple.(don't forget that I'm at the same latitude as Ross, so the light is not as intense as in FL) On the really hot days, I watered the mount twice a day. The new growths grew incredibly fast and in 3 months the growth was mature and spiking.

Now as the sun has shifted I get no direct sun on the windowsill, so the plant is hanging a few inches under my 55w power compact and has a bit of purple on the new growths. I give it intermediate temps and the humidity is always between 50 and 70%. I just hope I can rebloom it next year!

Camille, it's gorgeous! I love this little one. I have a Soph. rosea that hasn't done much. It grew a new growth, but no bloom. It was a TC with my Haerella. I've got it right under the lights but I may need to make it even brighter.

It's not that saturated in reality, but my camera always saturates the reds. I'll see if I can get a more accurate photo tomorrow!

That little guy looks great! Mine bloomed a week ago, but a slug ate the blooms a day after they opened!!

Sue,
Camille hit the nail on the head. Mine gets nearly full sun and the leaves still stay dark, though they have plenty of the purple tinge.
