Default My Lepanthes

Hi Everyone

This is my small collection of Lepanthes. I hope it will get bigger in time.

I have L. Calodictyon flowering now and have just selfed it with the aid of a 30x microscope. Fingers crossed.

Brett

3 - Lepanthes Telipogoniflora
2 - L. Saltatrix x L. Calodictyon
2 - L. Tsubotae
3 - L. Calodictyon
3- L. Mascula

I've flasked some L. Elate, but so far not germination after a month.

I hope your L. elate works out!
I look forward to more photos! (I'll have some up when I get my new ones... my manabina has about a dozen flowers on it)

Hi Jess

I hope it works out too. Good growing with your L. Manibana.

If anyone has some Lepanthes seed or flasks they want to swap for other seed or sell, please PM me.

Hopefully I will eventually have some seeds.
How long does it take a seed pod to mature? I'm still working on my pollination technique. What do you use to transfer pollen?

I am not sure how long the pod takes, sorry. I was recommended to use a 40x microscope (jewellers loop) and I think you need that. 30x is just enough, so I am looking for a stronger lense to add.

I found the pollen rather sticky, as was the pollen cap. I used a tool used for making cultures in labs. Sorry I dont know the name. I will take a picture for you when I get home. I got it from a science shop that sells to schools. The microscope cost about 3000 baht.

I'm not much up on the genera, but I must say I like your setup. I like growing in tanks myself. Nice collection.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

Thanks Rosie.

If you like the case now Ross, wait until I make the proper set up. This is a makeshift that will do until the later comes. It is going to be 180cm x 90cm tall (interior) x 75cm front to back and designed for high humidity, high light (top) to low light (bottom) growers. I havent decided if it is just top down light or I will add some side light. I guess that part is a wait and see once I break out the light meter.

I will keep with the same cooling method, though I may boost the chilling capacity with a bigger chiller and more fans as I worry the current one wont cope..

Brett
