Talking My MOS show acquisitions

My dad and I went to help set up on friday and got the first pick of the plants before the public . We also went on saturday (of course) and we stayed a lot longer than we thought mainly from the crowds. anyway here they are, enjoy.
P.S. I know the Phal. mini mark isnt a mini but I got it at the show
P.P.S The Tolumnia sylvestris is not from the show, it was a gift from my fatha (he got it at the Lansing show)
P.P.S.S. The little Dendrobium lichenastrum is my favorite.

Don't measn to steal this thread, but a question to those of you who may have attended the MOS Show: just how was it? Was the new venu better than the mall situation...the plants the vendors just how was it. Unfortuunately, I had to be in Florida on personal family business and couldn't attend as I had hoped , so would love to hear from anyone who was there......Thanks

You missed a nice show, H. A lot of very nice displays.

It was very busy, especially on Saturday. Since there was concern as to whether people would find it in its new location, the crowds were a welcome sight in that regard. The venders as a whole were very pleased.

The only complaint I heard was that things were a bit cramped. Assuming they use the same location next year, that will have to be addressed -- especially in the display areas.

Other than that I think it was an improvement over the mall location.

Default Thanks everyone

The show was really awesome and I cant believe I bought so many orchids, thats the most I have ever bought at one time. I only bought one that was on my list and that was the Phal. lobbii, the rest were impulse buy's just because the look cool and they go great in my terrarium. There were lots of people there, I think half the crowd was looking and the other half were trying to get somewhere. Hoosier Orchids only had one of the Dendrobium lichenastrum's and I got it!!! and I saw the Phymatidium falcifolium years ago and wanted it ever since and as soon as I saw it I grabbed it (I guess that was on my list too but I didnt know what it was until now)

I was pretty happy with the show from a sales perspective. I don't think the crowds were as big as the mall show, but the people who were there (and there were lots of people) were there to buy plants, so it worked out well. If they can keep it in the same place for a few years in a row it will help. I know a lot of people went to the mall and learned about the new location there... I must have answered the 'why did you move?' question 50 times - I didn't move, they did...

So, cons - it was too crowded. Hard to get in and out of the only doors they had. Exhibit space was tight and there really wasn't enough room to move around in the sales area. The sales tables were a foot or two deeper than usual, which made it hard to reach across to give customers plants. I also had the benefit of an outside corner table, so I couldn't even see some of my plants they were so far away. Using more normal width tables next year would be a plus (although some vendors liked being able to get more plants out on display). Probably a few too many vendors for the space we had, although I'm not volunteering to be the vendor left out next year!!

Pros- great facility, food was made on site and was pretty tasty. Lots of room for judging and storage. Lots of parking. Location was well marked from the road and pretty easy to find. Not having to walk 20 miles to judge the show (mall shows are hell) was really nice... I'd have to say I prefer this location to the old one, even though the old one was much closer to my house.
