I agree, a bay window or a green house would be nice .....but things being what they are: terrarium growing is the next best thing. I initially grew mine in small sized leca (not semi-hydroponic). I recently repotted in small sized styrofoam pellets (from a bean bag no less) and sphagnum moss. They love that too - they don't seem too picky. I don't water them every day, the media is damp, not wet. Hope this helps.

That would work for this tiny plant...as long as it makes it happy...the leaves are sturdy and cant be bruised. I dropped my plant several times and its still intact as if nothing happened

Impressive Bud - how many years have you had this - 15? 20? This species is so slow growing this has to be very old.

What kind of light do you get through your bay window? I grow my distichum and all other Angm. in lower light except my sesquipedale.

Thank You, Brooke ! This plant is 3 yrs old with me but I inherited it from a guy who was leaving the country and wanted to sell all his plants. I got it specimen sized in that same mounted state on a cork slab that I decided not to mess with. Yes, you must be right that it is more than 10 yrs old. This blooms twice each season. And when it does if gives me a polka dotted white on green effect with its shimmering crystalline white flowers. It is thriving on a windowsill and gets to get outdoors on my fire escape in the summers.

good growing Bud!
Thank you for posting this as I have a A. distichum as well and your post prompted me to go and really check my plant. Lo and behold I found a few spikes just starting and a couple of new growths. Without your posting, I probably wouldn't have noticed for awhile!

Again, Thanks!!!!!!
