Gorgeous M. limax and P. herpestes. Plus I really like the name herpestes!! Brings to mine my love of frogs and salamanders.

thank you very much nenella. i never heard of P. beatricis either until it bloomed. it was sold to me as P. umbellata, but when i noticed the semi transparent sepals and different flower structure, one quick search on google revealed my plant's true identity. the size of the flowers + the absence of a macro lens made the smaller flowers a challenge to shot! i think i took at least 10 photos of this plant in particular, and that was the only shot that made the cut!

many thanks to others for their kind comments!

Hi all. I'm new to the forum-- I've actually been lurking around here for a while but this is my first post.
Anyway, your minis look great! I just received my first mini a couple weeks ago, a den laevifolium.
I am just wondering how long your blooms typically last on this particular variety? Each of my blooms have come and gone pretty quickly (~1.5 weeks) but the plant seems to be growing nicely.
Just wondering what others have experienced with this guy.

Hi amberella, welcome to the forum, though I am relatively a new member myself...

IN the case of D. laevifolium, the blooms, provided they aren't pollenated, should last anywhere on average of 6-9 months. My first bloom opened up in mid April and persists even till today. What are your temp/humidity and media perimeters?

Hi Amberella, I like the name, very similar to the genus Amborella which is one of if not the most primitive flowering plants in the world. Welcome to the Orchid Board. Maybe you can introduce yourself here:
