Default Neocogniauxiana monophylla

I am putting this in the miniature thread and not either the Cattleya alliance or Pleurothallid thread, since I am not sure I agree with the new classification of this species as a Pleuro, but because of the classification didn't want to put it in with the Cattleyas either. Whatever group it belongs to it is a beautiful species.

Wow Ron, I really like it! Where did you get it? Or did you photograph in the wild? (I doubt that judging from the background).

Hi Tindo,
Don't remember where I got it - possibly from Andy's, but it certainly wasn't photographed in the wild. It's always been my dream to go see tropical orchids in their native habitats, but thus far that's only been a dream.

That is really cool Ron.

I find it amazing that an orchid can possibly move between Cattleya and Pleurothallid. Does it have p-bulbs, I thought Cattleya's did and Pleuro's didn't, but then I don't know that many of each really.

So do I! It has thin "pseudobulbs" like the stem on some pleuros, Acronia, Restrepiella, etc., with a narrow channeled leaf at the top.

Great species, Ron. Is yours blooming now? Mine normally blooms in late summer or early fall.
