Default My Lepanthes telipogoniflora

Hi

This is my Lepanthes telipogoniflora . It just flowered for the first time today.

I got a friend to hold it and you can compare it to his thumb I know what is prettier.

It has 3 spikes now and looks like more to come. The plant has grown amazingly in 90% humidity, in live moss and at 22 celcius.

Brett

By the way, this is 8 months on from 2 leaves.. I got it from Orquideas del valle. Yet, a second plant from the same order is still 2 leaves and not looking happy

I really like this little guy, though I've never grown it. Good pics!

I bought one from Andrea last October too. Unfortunately mine did not wake up from all the activity. Im not giving up though, Il definitely be getting some at the San Francisco show next month.

PS - By living moss, do you mean like a tree moss started growing on top of sphagnum?

Hi SOS

No, this is like a native moss here in Thailand that is similar to spagnum, but finer. I will take some photos for you. It seems to be heat sensitive too and dies if the temp is too high, so it loves the Lepanthes conditions. I will post pcis of it.

I would really love to get some more plants of this species. My problem is that most nurseries wont send a small order to places like Thailand.

My plants were sent to the USA and a friend brought them over. Thailand is very lazy about enforcing import laws.

I am going to try to pollinate this plant, but I it will be a challenge, even with a 30x microscope I think.

Very nice! I've never grown this species, but I fell in love with it when another OB member posted his, which was growing in a small glass globe with some live moss around the roots. Since it needs such high humidity, I want to grow it in a similar container.

Yours is beautiful. I'm jealous!

I am hoping to bring this species with me when I return to Australia. I doubt a mature plant would survive AQIS, so I really hope to flask it.

I have a friend in France who flasks Lepanthes and he has a friend in Belgium who can make seed on them too. He will send me some protocorms when he germinates them.
