Default Microterangis hildebrandtii

Here is another wonderful minature, Microterangis hildebrandtii, in bloom. It grows very well in sphag, wet and warm. The spike number and length seem to vary each year and I don't know what induces it to bloom.

I've only seen these mounted. Great little dwarf and super color.

thanks - unfortunately, this plant suddenly went downhill in a few weeks time and perished. Not sure what happened.

Sad indeed. I also had one, that did very well for several years - a root and flower machine. Then it expired. No idea why either...

Hey, you win a few you lose a few. It IS a cute miniature, though not particularly colorful. (Hint... if you never kill an orchid, you aren't learning because you're not trying new things. Nobody bats 1.000)
