Default Trichocentrum albo-coccineum, Pluerothallis cypripediodes

Trichocentrum albo-coccineum - I just got this at Hausermann's during Orchidfest in September, so time will tell if this guy actually adapts to my orchidarium. If it had the first spike when I got it, I missed it. The second spike just came out. Really hoping all four buds open!

The picture I have of this type plant on my wish list shows a white lip with just a little magenta near the top. I really prefer this! As usual, the camera doesn't pick up how rich purple/magenta color is.

Pluerothallis cypripediodes - This came from Andy's back in March. Looks like it's getting ready to put on a big show! This will the the third time it has bloomed, although only one stalk at a time before, so apparently it is happy

Default Updates

Of course while I was gone on vacation two more blooms on the Trichocentrum opened, but at least I get to enjoy them for a little bit. The pic is from today. Also, I didn't realize they had a scent. It is very pleasant, though you have to get pretty close. My daughter said it's like vanilla.

The picture of the Plueothallis where the closet ones are sharper was taken today, the other one was taken Dec 17, so they've lasted awhile.

The fourth flower on the Trichocentrum is fading today. Also, about half of the Pluerothallis blooms have wilted. I am very happy with the length of time these lasted.

Update - It looked like the fourth Trichocentrum flower was wilting when I last posted, but it perked back up and had looked very nice until yesterday, and now it is definitely gone. Also, the Pluerothallis has been reblooming ever since, although with about 2 flowers open at a time. There are still a couple of buds. I post this because I think people interested in these want to know how long they bloom for.
