My first orchid bloom! Not sure I am allowed to take any credit. I purchased this plant from Orchids by Hausermanns on 4/20 and I first noticed the bud on 4/29. The bud fully opened on 5/1 and today it has started to diminish.

Nonetheless, I am very excited about my first bloom! It's so much more beautiful and intricate than I imagined. I apologize if the pictures are not of great quality; they were taken with my cell phone through dirty glass. This was it's temporary home. I now have this plant and other minis mounted in a small 12x12x18 ZooMed terrarium. I am looking forward to more blooms!

One of the neat things about Restrepias is that they may produce more than one flower from the same growth, over a few weeks' time That is lovely! And really nice photos - these are tricky to photograph, because of the depth of the flower, nearly impossible to have everything in focus at the same time and get a good view of the tiny petals held in front. The transparent "windows" on the dorsal sepal came out beautifully.

Very nice!! Sometimes with these flowers, low tech is best. Cellphone cameras are great at capturing these things. Never heard of this species. Thanks for sharing!
