Cattleyas on my window
Default Cattleyas on my window

I have orchids growing everywhere around the building where I live (check this thread and this one), so I thought why not try to grow them on my window sill as well?

It's not the prettiest setup but it works really well and I can enjoy them without having to leave the apartment.
The orchid pots are placed inside window boxes filled with leca, that helps keeping the roots cool and also absorbs any excess water.

Since it's very bright, I'm growing cattleyas only.
Here's what it looks like:

Amazing sun if you can grow catts inside like that! I love living in a high rise. I did once and thought that the lights at night were awesome. At the time I did not have any orchids, but your picture made me think it would have been great because I had an absolutely perfect window for it! I love that shiny red cattleya too!

I think it looks really nice. I guess I already replied about the orchid but I'll say again outstanding color.

More orchids that are going to bloom soon!

These 2 sheaths on the Bruno Bruno 'Pegasus' have several buds inside. I can see them against my phone lantern.

Bruno Bruno Royal Red

Iwanagara Apple Blossom 'Golden Elf'
