Ok, The only recent pic I could find with snow in it. Three days ago at this time we had our biggest snow of the year, a lot, than things got tropical... Um I mean.. 40s for a while.

Its was snowing all day here in NYC today, then I looked out the window just now and its raining. Uuggggg. I prefer for it to just be snow. All this freezing, melting, refreezing is bad for my garden plants. I wish it would just snow and leave a nice insulating layer of snow on my garden.
Last week it snowed, and the snow never melted. It just blew away with the horribly strong wind. Some of my windowsill orchids got frostbit on some of the leaves.
The week before that it rained after the snow.

I feel the same. Currently it is -33C with a -44C wind chill and an extreme cold warning from Environment Canada. And I have my orchid society meeting this afternoon where I want to bring some plants to and from. And tomorrow it is supposed to be 0C or 32F for the Americans. It's not good for trees and perennials (or me and my orchids).

Mine sounds better than yours Tin. Hope your garden plants fair well. Something about winter is magical, then the chids want to play in spring, and I do as well.

I am glad we don't have those temperatures!
It just keeps snowing here. More and more and more. Today, however, was beautiful and warm. 33'F. The snow didn't melt but the roads were in good condition for my daughter's college visit after yesterday's seven inches.
I worry about the roses and herbs. Last year, I lost my roses and some of my herbs and had to replace them. I nearly lost the peach tree. I hope this year, with all the insulating snow (and we do have plenty of it), everything will be fine despite those -'F temperatures. I am not even bothering to try to grow the figs outside (they are not a true cold-hardy variety).
