This I set up over the winter and it's filling up with plants.
I have some higher-light space to the left of the shelves that can take more plants, but the phal areas are packed.

I might pick up a laelia little sunset for the empty space on the middle shelf, and I'm getting rid of one of the cattleyas to the right so I can put a large phal there.

Nice shelves, it's pretty and functional! Lots of empty space, but I'm sure you'll take care of that problem quickly!!

thanks!
I guess I will throw the question out there - what can take full Eastern sun from sunrise until about 2pm? Too much for phals...I was thinking minicatts but what else?

My window gets somewhat eastern sun from sunrise to 11am, and Miltonias (not Miltionopsis!) and some Oncs do well there, they get nearly yellow. Phals do fine if I tuck them behind some other plants. You could also try some Asccentrums and related.

thanks everyone. So far I have only had to remove one phal (moved to my light closet) due to sun overexposure. Everything else seems to be doing well without shade cloth!

I am probably going to move the plant from the bottom shelf into a terrarium (from whence it came) and claim the bottom shelf for more orchids.
