That's really an impressive set-up, Naoki. I wouldn't even begin to know how to start something like this--let alone have the discretionary funds to keep all of those 400W MH lights going. How many lights do you have, and how long do they run throughout the day?

Steve

Let's say, we don't have kids. My power bill is ~$200 - $250 a month. I have 'orchids' and my partner, Mike has a 'koi pond' outside. These hobbies are not cheap. Plus we have an air-conditioner during the summer month. You think living in PNW does not require one? I thought so, but once I got it, it keeps the house comfortable, esp during the hot/muggy night.

Steve
There are 4 of them and they run 12 hrs in winter months and 14-15 hrs in summer months.

I am still in denial. ( NOT ADDICTED ).

Koi *and* orchids? Add some big fishtanks and a giant marine reef, and it's the perfect house

We used to have a 'salt water' fish tank and a bird.

Koi, orchids, fish tank, bunny, bird and dog. They all costs money, but they bring us joy. I'm in the Pacific North West, too, but don't need the air conditioner. I just open windows at night and close blinds during the day. It goes down to 51 most nights, and doesn't get hot until afernoon.
