Since I was unable to get up there I certainly would love to see the pictures!

I was able to upload two photos of the NJ Exhibit at Longwood onto my "Member Gallery" under Anyara...

Now that I know how to do that, I may add a few more from the show.

Nice pictures. I love a show format that allows floor level displays, rather than all on tables. Lots of elevations possibilities.

You inspired me to post a few more from the show in the "Member Gallery" - look under Anyara. The Main Exhibit area was a submerged floor area commonly referred to as the "Fern Court" in the East Conservatory. Surrounding this was an elevated area with columns. In between the columns were table-top exhibits. About 20 + exhibits.

Randy,

Entering your first show at Longwood? Wow! I'm impressed. What an intimidating venue!

But congrats on your ribbons! Your brag is well deserved!

I've also tried mounted orchids, and found they don't work well for windowsill growing in NE. It's simply not humid enough - particularly in the winter.

Hi Piper

My first time entering a show at Longwood yes. Definitely intimidating! Kind of like entering the Philadelphia Flower Show; which I haven't done yet.

I will say that now that I have a different greenhouse which doesn't have the same ability to keep it humid it's more difficult to keep the humidity high enough for the more delicate mounted plants but some are still doing fine. In my old greenhouse I could keep Draculas, but not here. I had a cyclonic humidifier and a humidistat where I could set the humidity level at whatever level I wanted. In this greenhouse I don't have running water yet.

Oh I get it - I'm all windowsill in an apartment and mounted guys, while they don't die, don't bloom either. A greenhouse is the next step.

But can any of it ever be enough. I think as part of the 12 step thingie, we have to admit that IT will never be enough. We'll endlessly pour our time, money, bright-shiny-object focus and love into more 'chids than we could ever sanely expect to nurture.

Ok, so come on - let's get going!!!
