Ouch! My husband did something similar last year, but unlike you he just walked calmly into the house and asked me to take him to the Emergency department. I madehim keep it wrapped up so I didn't feelfaint. I hope your faint didn't make you bruised anywhere else.

On the subject of measuring light without a light meter, do you have a camera with in built meter? If so check out this link to Ray's website Light Intensity Measurement
