For those of you in the market for new orchid shelving, LOWES has the 48 x 18 x 74 inch chrome shelving unit for 59.99, whereas HOME DEPOT has the same unit for 99.99.

I was going to go this morning to HD and bite the bullet, but something told me to go to LOWES first to check out their selection. I'm super pumped that I did.

The orchids are in their new (and roomier) home until my shadehouse is built.

I"m am super pumped about the price because I seldom find a bargain. I saved more than

and that's rare for me.

Just a word of unsolicited advice: if they're the same price, you might want to consider the black powder-coated shelving rather than the chrome. I've had both, and the chrome tends to rust much quicker. I've got the black ones now, and they last a lot longer.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LECA. I've gone through 2 25 gallon bags of it already. It's the only thing I use for outdoor plants.

I had no more room!! And, I ordered some new Laelias (of course) and a new Aerides (second time around for me) so I wouldn't have room for those in the old shelf. I didn't anticipate the Laelia purpuratas to be so darned tall!!! When I got them I was like, "What is this, a palm tree?" Those suckers are vertical space hogs.

So, I was in a panic and ummmm...ran out to buy the shelf the first chance I got.

I was just worried about the Laelias. One catt is in bloom, so I couldn't repot it; the Laelia purpurata that I got in bud finally opened, so I couldn't touch it; the Aerides hasn't been repotted and I ordered 2 more anceps from SBOE (coming at the end of August. So, I desperately needed the room. So that's ummm... let's see, 5 more big pots waiting to be put in that space.
