Default New Setup

For the last few years I've been growing in the house under lights. About this time last year I bought a used cedar frame greenhouse. After a summer of long work weeks, long benefit bike rides, working on the greenhouse and almost no sleep I finally have the greenhouse up and running. I moved all my orchids outside for the summer and with the lack of sun and many overcast wet days it wasnt a great growing season here in the norhteast. But now, after only a month in they're new digs the chids are exploding with spikes, new growth, and roots everywhere. I couldn't be more pleased! Thanks for looking

Beautiful growing space. I'm just down the road from you, and all I can say is wow. And, thanks for bolstering my own dream of someday having a real working greenhouse here in the frozen tundra of Siberacuse.

Just curious, what are the heating plans and what minimum temperature are you shooting for?

I heat with a 2 chamber combustion heater that runs on natural gas. min night temps are 56-57 and min day time temps are 73. Most of my stuff is obviously warmer growing. Its been unseasonabley cool here this fall and the heater has been running for almost a month. The walls are a double wall polycarbonate and this coming week I plan on installing a twin wall polyethelene inflated pillow over the exterior toincrease the insulation value. I'll post pics when I do this.
