Default My Indoor Vanda house has expanded

Not only have I been buying plants, but also I forgot that most of them get bigger. Since the original Vanda house got too tight, I ended up expanding it by 24" in width, which allows me to install two additional hanging bars.

I really have no more room to add any although I am expecting two Vandas from Smiley Orchids.

The first one is the original and the second is the new one.

Thank you for looking....

What a great set-up. It looks like you have more room to expand also. That's a great idea, using the PVC like that.

That is a wonderful setup, and your plants all look so healthy and happy. What size is it now?

I have a couple of questions: what do you have for ventilation? how do you get to your plants when it is all enclosed like that?

It looks like a perfect setup. I grow my vandas in my home also but I find it difficult to keep the humidity up.

Thank you all.

Marilyn, it is not completely enclosed. Do you see a PVC pipe wrapped around with a shower curtain in front of the setup? That portion can be rolled up for "looking" or "watering." I then have a fan running 24/7 from the other side of the wall. The air movement goes through from the "unattached" side. So, it appears that they are getting a gentle air movement inside.

The change I made on the second setup is that I lowered the height of the light. The distance between the light and the plants is less than a foot. I now have a few plants in spike now.

What a great idea you show us here! Have to keep this idea in mind for the future of my own plants. Thanks for sharing!

Funny, my initial reaction was if she put a 2nd row of bars underneath, she could have double the vandas. Lots of room! Great minds think alike, or warped/addicted minds, not sure which. Great idea. I keep all my vandas together hanging in my master bathroom (hanging over my jacuzzi) and make everyone in our house shower in there to keep humidity up. Seems to work ok for now and easy to mist with bathtub below.
